You are hereby authorised to join Edward McLaun and Jemima Lovejoy in the Holy State of Matrimony according to the Constitution and Laws of this State and for so doing this shall be your sufficient License - Given under my hand and seal this 23rd day of August 1837.

State of North Carolina
We, the undersigned, do hereby acknowledge ourselves indebted to his Excellency James ____mes Esquire, Governor, &c. and his successors in office, in the sum of five hundred pounds. But to be void on condition that there is no lawful cause to obstruct a marriage between Jeremiah McGlauhon and Nancy Baker for whom a license now issues.

Witness our hand and seals, this 26th day of Jan. Anno Dom. 1805
